From the queen of pixelvision comes Sadie Benning's long awaited first feature-length project. Taylor is an androgynous 11-year-old girl who is coming of age in a world of disappointing adults. She lives with her mom who barely notices her and their gay roommate, Quiggy. Quiggy is Taylor's best hope for a positive role model, but he's moving to Florida - leaving Taylor on her own to make sense of her pre-teen feelings of alienation and her growing attraction to girls. The cast wears comic-book-like masks as a motif of identity, creating a sense of humor and a blurring of reality.
Benning successfully blends pixelvision video and film with live action and animation, resulting in a documentation of childhood that is innovative, insightful, and heartbreakingly honest.
Also playing will be Benning's music video German Song and the saga of a paper-mache puppet teen, Judy Spots.
