Dorian Blues (closing Night)

Thursday, October 21, 8:00pm

If you think all coming-out stories have been told, meet Dorian.
Dorian (Michael Millan, of the WB’s “What I Like About You”) is a bright, charming… and closeted high school senior. At school, he’s unappreciated and harassed. At home, he lives in the shadow of his gorgeous, football-hero brother and is all but ignored by his right-wing father and reticent mother. Using humor and sardonic wit, Dorian tries to contain his anxieties, but he desperately wants to either fit in… or come out. Riotously ill-fated attempts to get help (from the likes of an incompetent social worker and an uncomfortable parish priest) finally bring Dorian to his breaking point. Next thing you know, he’s making out with a boy at school and outing himself to his super-straight brother. But as he accepts his gay identity and moves to New York for college, will this newfound freedom be exhilarating or provide even more challenges?
First-time writer/director Tennyson Bardwell’s heart-warming and hilarious DORIAN BLUES has been winning audience awards at film festivals across the country. With its sharp script and perfectly realized cast, the film is a breath of fresh air in a well-worn genre of queer cinema.
