Underground queer filmmaker Todd Verow (1995’s
infamous FRISK) directs and stars in ANONYMOUS, a voyeuristic and
graphic look at the modern gay struggle between monogamy and sexuality
without constraints. Todd’s five-year relationship with his
boyfriend went stale long ago. Away from home he inhabits a nocturnal
world of boredom and loneliness at the New York City movie theater
where he works. His only escape is a seemingly endless string of
anonymous sexual encounters with men he meets on the internet and
in public restrooms. When his boyfriend discovers Todd at a men’s
room gloryhole, he beats him and kicks Todd out of their apartment.
Forced to wander Manhattan’s dark streets, Todd engages in
even more anonymous sex and quickly spirals downward into ever more
desperate encounters. His quest to fulfill his desires brings him
to the brink of raw desperation.
