DANGEROUS LIVING: COMING OUT IN THE DEVELOPING WORLD
Experience Music Project: JBL Theater
Saturday, October 18
12:00pm

The “Cairo 52,” 52 men who were arrested, tried, convicted, and sentenced to three years in prison for gathering at a discotheque frequented by gay men, is one of the subjects of this film exploring the experience of queerdom outside the western world. In interviews with queer activists that are both inspiring and heart-rending, a woman in Honduras describes how she had the courage to participate in her city’s Pride march, but how her family was then attacked by military police; and a gay activist in Kenya tells of being imprisoned and beaten for his efforts in diversity education. John Scagliotti’s DANGEROUS LIVING takes an in-depth look at how and why GLBT communities are being created and called to action all over the world.
