SOME REAL HEAT

Sunday, October 20
2:00pm
Little Theatre

In a time when firefighters are receiving national media attention, SOME REAL HEAT focuses on the strong, courageous, and admirable women of the San Francisco Fire Department as they discuss their thoughts and experiences as Emergency Medical Technicians, burn counselors, and firefighters. Telling stories of excitement, danger, and surprise, the women offer their views on displaying physical and emotional strength, respecting death and tragedy, expressing vulnerability, and earning respect in a field where women comprise less than 13% of the force. If that isn’t enough, this documentary also turns up the heat with great shots of these sexy firefighters in their sharp uniforms, working out, surfing, and discussing their favorite firefighting tools. SOME REAL HEAT offers a rare glimpse into the perspectives of women firefighters that you’re not likely to see anywhere else.

Playing with HELL ON EARTH: TEN YEARS OF HELLCATZ RUGBY, the story of Evergreen University’s rough-and-tumble women’s rugby team as they get bruised up, raise money and support for their team, and spend their time tackling other girls.
