ALL IN THE FAMILY: SHORTSPROM FIGHT/ JUST CALL ME KADE

Wednesday, October 23
5:00pm
Little Theatre

We are proud to offer two inspiring stories of young people choosing to live openly and honestly in spite of mainstream opposition.

PROM FIGHT tells the story of Marc Hall, who simply told the truth when asked who he planned to take to the prom. Determined to bring his boyfriend and refusing to back down in the face of pressure from school administration, this courageous young gay man attracted enormous community support while causing a great debate as his case progressed from the local Catholic school board to the Ontario Superior Court.

A more intimate bucking of the mainstream is portrayed in JUST CALL ME KADE. Articulate and insightful, Kade is a 14-year-old who knows who he is and what he wants to be. This remarkable story about a transgendered youth includes inspirational testimonies from Kade’s family and friends who, throughout his transition, demonstrate a surprising degree of understanding and positive support.

PROM FIGHT: THE MARC HALL STORY; Larry Peloso, director; 2002; Canada; 60 minutes; video
