THE
GREATEST STORIES NEVER TOLD: QUEER WOMEN FILMMAKERS TALK ABOUT THEIR WORK
Sunday,
October 20
12:30pm
Harvard Exit
American features about queer men with a budget of more than a million
dollars outnumber comparable features about queer women ten to one. Of
those films about women – a significant number of which are made
by men – only a fraction get widespread distribution.
Join us for a lively conversation with a select panel of this year’s
festival filmmakers as we explore the pitfalls and rewards of lesbian
movie-making from start to finish: writing the story, selling the script,
getting funding, producing, working with actors, directing, editing, distribution
and finally, audience response. We will also examine the impact these
films have on both queer and straight communities alike.
Our engaging panel of filmmakers will take questions from the audience
and share their own experiences around these complex and intriguing issues.
