Dykes ahoy! Sail away on this gender-bending pirate fairy tale about a virgin Butch’s quest for the Queen’s stolen treasure. In award-winning director Ileana Pietrobruno’s (CAT SWALLOWS PARAKEET AND SPEAKS!) sophomore film, we learn that long ago the King made off with the Queen’s precious "koilos." Left to a life of watching porn without pleasure, the Queen has to wait for a virgin top butch to retrieve her purloined prize. When Butch finally arrives, the Queen entices him to carry out her master plan by promising him the love of his life, Claudia, as a reward. While this erotic fable twists and turns across the sea, so do ideas of sexual role-play and gender identity. GIRL KING swings from the mast to challenge everything from butch/femme relationships to masculine/feminine beliefs, never losing its sense of humor and fun.
