Ladies and gentlemen! Put your hands together for El Vez, the Mexican Elvis! With a whip of his comb and a well-timed "Thank-ya, thank-ya-very-much," the ever-outrageous El Vez has been thrusting his hips and making millions swoon across the U.S. and Europe since the mid-eighties. By reworking lyrics to popular Elvis songs, El Vez has delivered pointed messages to the masses about politics, sex, homosexuality, racism, drug abuse, and much more. Marjorie Chodorov’s entertaining documentary EL REY DE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL uses original show footage and interviews with friends and family to chronicle the rise to Elvis-dom of performer Robert Lopez. AND if you’re hankerin’ for more, when El Vez has left the building, Robert Lopez himself will be there to keep you all shook up!
