Press Credentials
Press passes will be mailed out the week before the festival. Press members
may obtain a pass by contacting the Press Coordinator. Only one pass will be
issued to each publication or station. Passholders must arrive twenty
minutes before the start of a film to ensure seating.
Screener Tapes
All members of the press are welcome to preview films for the upcoming
festival. Reporters should contact the Press Coordinator to request copies
of the films they wish to see. Tapes will be made available as soon as
possible following a request. Tapes must be returned to Three Dollar Bill
Cinema within 48 hours. Press packets and production notes are available for
some films.

Festival Guests
To celebrate our fifth anniversary, the festival is bringing more VIPs to
Seattle than ever before. The following guests will be in Seattle for part
or all of the festival week and interviews may be scheduled by contacting
the Press Coordinator. Guests are still being confirmed so stay tuned or
give us a call.
Thomas Bezucha, Writer/Director, BIG EDEN
Bezucha make his feature film writing and directing debut with BIG EDEN, the
opening night film for the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. Since
finishing BIG EDEN, Bezucha has completed a feature length script about the
depression-era Civilian Conservation Corps., and a comedy about family,
FUCKING HATE HER, which he will direct in February. Variety included Bezucha
in its annual "10 to Watch" list of screenwriters for 2000.
Jennifer Chaiken, Producer, BIG EDEN
Chaiken most recently produced the feature-length documentary NAKED STATES,
which will be broadcast in Fall of 2000 on Cinemax. Previously, Chaiken was
the coproducer of RESTAURANT, the Executive Producer for I LOVE YOU, DONıT
TOUCH ME!, and the Associate Producer of the Emmy-nominated FAMILY NAME.
Debra Chasnoff, Director, THATıS A FAMILY!
Chasnoffıs THATıS A FAMILY! takes off where her wildly successful and
groundbreaking documentary, ITıS ELEMENTARY-TALKING ABOUT GAY ISSUES IN
SCHOOLS, left off. The children star in THATıS A FAMILY! and explain the
meaning of terms like "divorce," "gay and lesbian," and "birth mom."
Glimpses of almost 50 family types make the point that in the U.S. today,
"different" families are normal. This work follows Chasnoffıs critically
acclaimed documentaries: HOMES & HANDS-COMMUNITY LAND TRUST IN ACTION;
DEADLY DECEPTION-GENERAL ELECTRIC, NUCLEAR WEAPONS, AND OUR EVNIRONMENT; and
CHOOSING CHILDREN, one of the first films about lesbian parenting.
Silas Flipper, Writer/Director/Actor, BY HOOK OR BY CROOK
Flipper has been performing nationally and internationally with her band,
Tribe 8, since 1991. Tribe 8 is a notorious punk/queercore band and the
subject of a feature-length documentary slated for release in Fall 2000.
Flipper is also co-founder/owner of the legendary Red Doraıs Bearded Lady
Café and Truckstop, an acclaimed performing arts venue in the Bay Area.
Arye Gross, Actor, BIG EDEN
Gross starred most recently in Paul Lazarus' SEVEN GIRLFRIENDS opposite Mimi
Rogers, Jami Gertz, and Olivia D'Abo. Gross' film career highlights include
Tony Spiridakis' TINSELTOWN, Clive Fluery's BIG CITY BLUES with William
Forsythe and Burt Reynolds, and Robert Towne's TEQUILA SUNRISE with Mel
Gibson, Kurt Russell, and Michelle Pfeiffer. His television credits include
a regular role on the ABC sitcom ELLEN and an ABC pilot for THE PLAYER.
John Kirk, Lecturer, SONS OF HERCULES
Kirk is a film archivist at MGM Studios in Los Angeles. He has lectured on
his work in the U.S., Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. He is currently
working on restorations of "The Trials of Oscar Wilde" and the Spaghetti
Western "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly."
Randal Kleiser, Director, GREASE
Kleiserıs extensive film accomplishments speak for themselves. In addition
to GREASE, he also directed THE BLUE LAGOON, WHITE FANG, and GETTING IT
RIGHT. Kleiser wrote and directed SUMMER LOVERS and the thought-provoking
feature film ITıS MY PARTY. He also co-wrote and executive produced the film
NORTH SHORE. Look for Kleiser's hilarious short film NURSERY in the Girlsı
Shorts and Animation programs.
Gayle Maurice, Actor, JOHNNY GREYEYES
Maurice plays Johnny in JOHNNY GREYEYES, the story of a resilient and
introspective Native American lesbian coming to terms with her recent
release from prison. JOHNNY GREYEYES is the first feature-length film about
Native American lesbians to be released in the United States. Maurice
previously appeared in Gil Cardinalıs BIG BEAR.
Max Mitchell, Director, GET YOUR STUFF
GET YOUR STUFF has played to sold-out audiences at gay and lesbian film
festivals all year. It is Mitchellıs first feature film and is based on his
own award-winning play. Mitchell has written plays that have been produced
in New York, Florida, and Los Angeles.
Christine J. Russo, Co-director, STRAIGHT DOWN THE AISLE: CONFESSIONS OF
LESBIAN BRIDESMAIDS
For STRAIGHT DOWN THE AISLE, Russo and co-director Kelly Hankin spent a year
traveling across the country interviewing over thirty lesbians about their
experiences as bridesmaids. Russo is an internationally-exhibited film and
video artist who has been involved with imagemaking for the past several
years.
Eric Schweig, Actor, BIG EDEN
Schweig was most recently seen with Johnathan Taylor Thomas and Brad Renfro
in TOM & HUCK. His prior film credits include Roland Jaffesıs A SCARLET
LETTER, Peter Medakıs PONTIAC MOON, Xavier Koller's THE LAST OF THE
MOHICANS, and Robert Bouvierıs THE SHAMANıS SOURCE. His television work
includes a regular role on DUE SOUTH.
Brian Shepp, Writer/Producer/Director, GYPSY BOYS
Shepp is well-versed as a director, actor, producer, playwright and
screenwriter. He directed and starred in the film MEASURING THE DAY and
wrote, produced, and directed the science fiction film EARTH ANGEL. Shepp
has been living in San Francisco for several years and GYPSY BOYS is a
collage of what he has seen, overheard, and personally experienced during
his time in the "gay mecca."
