THAT'S A FAMILY!
These two thoughtful, illuminating films examine the challenges, fears, conflicts, and love experienced by the children of non-traditional households, and offer new twists on the definition of "family values." In OUR HOUSE, director Meema Spadola profiles five families from varied social, economic, ethnic, and racial backgrounds. The children, who face the normal trials of growing up, also face coming out to friends, teachers, and neighbors as the children of gay men or lesbians. The featured children poignantly express their concerns with honesty, sincerity, and humor. THAT'S A FAMILY! also gives a voice to children from diverse households. The kids share their life stories, giving us personal glimpses of gay and lesbian families, single-parent families, and adoptive families, among others. Colorful and enlightening, the film blends animation and interviews to celebrate families of all shapes and sizes.
THAT'S A FAMILY!'s Academy award-winning director, Debra Chasnoff, will be present for a question-and-answer session following the film.
