101 RENT BOYS

Directors Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato (THE EYES OF TAMMY FAYE) provide us with a glimpse into the world of male prostitution through a series of interviews conducted over the course of a year. Each "boy" was given a $50 bill to bare all - both literally and figuratively - for the camera. One subject noted that he found being interviewed more difficult than having sex with a stranger.

101 RENT BOYS titillates as each subject shares his fantasies and fetishes (one demonstrates the two best positions for auto-fellatio). Nevertheless, the directors succeed in humanizing their subjects, who are accustomed to being treated as disposable commodities, by letting them tell their own stories, in their own words. These stories share common themes of molestation, rejection, low self-esteem, and despair. Some see hustling as a means to an end, while others see it as simply an end.

Plus short: TWO ENCOUNTERS
